Storyboard Szöveg

  • The Palestinian Refugee Crisis is the subject of today's documentary.
  • We've arrived in one of the Gaza Strip's refugee camps, the most densely populated Rafah Camp.
  • As you can see behind me, there are a large number of Palestinian refugees here, estimated to be over 125,000..
  • So, what prompted your visit to this camp, and how long have you been here?
  • We'll now have an interview with one of the people at these camps to find out why they're there and whether they have relatives.
  • The 1948 Arab-Israeli war, the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, the 1967 Six-Day War, and many more battles are the reasons we are here or were exiled from our homes. Because of the ongoing conflict and the Palestinians' lack of statehood, many Palestinians have little choice but to flee their homeland..
  • Is that to say you've lived here your entire life?
  • Yes, I am a direct descendent of the first exiles who fled their homeland.
  • These camps were set up by the UNWRA, which the Rafah Camp is only one of the 68 established in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The reason for the amount being due to the large quantity of refugees in the area.
  • So, how many refugees are there and how many were originally from elsewhere?
  • While there were only 711,000 refugees from the 1948 conflicts and 280,000 from the 1967 wars when we arrived, there are now roughly 5 million refugees in UNRWA-managed camps owing to the length of time we've been here.
