PROPERTIES: Solids can't flow. REASON FOR PROPERTIES: The particles can't move past each other.

Liquid
Particles can move around each other, but they are close together and arranged in a random way.

Gas
Particles are far apart and arranged in a random way. They move very quickly around and sometimes collide with each other.
PROPERTIES: Gases can flow and completely fill their container. REASON FOR PROPERTIES: Particles move in every direction quickly.
PROPERTIES: Gases can be compressed. REASON FOR PROPERTIES: Particles are far apart so they can move closer together.
