- Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana Territory from France for $15, 000,000 in 1803. He wanted to send a group to explore the newly acquired land.
- Hey guys! Ya see, I just bought this land and it doubled our size. How about putting together an expedition?
- Could be fun...
- We'll do it!
- Meriweather Lewis and William Clark gathered a group of able-bodied men. They were called the Corps of Discovery.
- This would be soooo much better with a guide. Where even are we?
- Lewis and Clark happened to run into Sacagawea and her husband, who was an interpreter. Turns out Sacagawea had a keen sense of direction. She and her baby joined the expedition.
- So, you'll help us?
- I'm so down for this!
- Oui!
- Hmmmm.... interesting...
- Along the way, Lewis and Clark documented new plants and animals in the west.
- Are we there yet?
- To cross the Rocky Mountains, the Corps of Discovery could really use some horses, but they were unsure of the Shoshone Native Americans. Until.....
- Hold up... are you? ...MY BROTHER??!
- Sacagawea?!
- Finally, after many years....THEY MADE IT TO THE PACIFIC OCEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
