Storyboard Szöveg

  • If you don't want to burn in hell for your sins, pay us and they'll be forgiven!
  • Ugh this is so wrong. I can't believe they're taking advantage of ignorance like this
  • The roman catholic church has way too much influence.
  • Martin Luther was a Catholic Monk born in Eisenberg, Germany on November 10th, 1483. He dedicated himself and his life to the Augustinian order. When it came to his attention that the Roman Catholic Church was selling indulgences to forgive sins, he was frustrated and disappointed. He didn't agree with what they were doing in the slightest especially considering how unfair it was since there were people with no money.
  • Will you recant?
  • ""I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I can do no other, so help me God. Amen.""
  • After seeing what the church was doing, he wanted to take a stand against it. Martin decided to write the 95 Theses on how corrupt the church had become. They were greedy and immoral. He nailed it to the door of the Cathedral to make sure everyone could see it. Someone who saw it ended up making copies of the theses so he could get his words out to more people. When people started reading it, the Reformation sparked.
  • GET OUT!
  • Since there was so much noise about it, the Catholic Church wasn't happy and they burned everything he wrote. They ended up sending him to trial and wanted to excommunicate him.
  • Luckily for Martin, the trial was held in Germany, where most, if not all people were on his side. He had a lot of support who was also actively protesting against the church. Martin's trial was the "Diet of Worms." He had to appear before the Holy Roman Empire which would decide his fate. They gave him the option to take back everything he said about the church (recant). Martin still stood by what he believed in and was labeled a heretic for it.
  • In January 1521, Martin was officially excommunicated. They ruled him an outlaw and he was banned from entering any church ceremony that was hosted by the Catholic Church. Martin was punished for the heresy he was originally accused of and continued to reform until the day died.
  • The Roman Catholic Church inevitably lost a lot of its power and control over people. Eventually some of the people who found out about the things that were happening and became protestants. People started to leave the Catholic Church and started a new religion.
