Storyboard Szöveg

  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • Holden Caulfield, a troubled young man, is the protagonist of the story. He informs us that he had flunked out of Pencey Prep, his boarding school, and that he was going to spend a few days in New York City before returning home to face his parents.
  • Climax
  • Holden believes that many individuals, including some of his classmates, are "phonies." Holden is alone in New York after leaving Pencey Prep. He then remembers his younger brother, Allie, who died of leukemia in 1946. Holden Caulfield clearly does not have a good handle on his emotions. The issue will worsen if he shows his genuine personality. Caulfield becomes depressed and alone to a larger level than usual.
  • Falling Action
  • Holden then slips into his house to see Phoebe, his younger sister. He tells her about his dream of being a "catcher in the rye," catching children playing in a field before they tumble off a precipice. Caulfield is attempting to catch children before they lose their innocence and become into adults.
  • Resolution
  • Holden sleeps at the home of a former teacher, Mr. Spencer. While Holden is sleeping, the teacher begins petting his head. Holden spends the night at the train station after that. He makes the hasty decision to hitchhike out West the next day and sends a note to Phoebe. She arrives with her suitcase, eager to accompany him. Holden refuses to allow her, which irritates Phoebe.
  • Holden brings Phoebe to the zoo to try to calm her down. Holden keeps an eye on her while she rides the carosaul. When it begins to rain, everyone rushes to get out of the storm. Despite this, Holden Caulfield experiences happiness for the first time in the story at this point. He starts sobbing.
  • Holden ends his narrative here, telling the reader that he is not going to tell the story of how he went home and got “sick.” and he ends up in a mental institution. He plans to go to a new school in the fall and is cautiously optimistic about his future.
