- Zinser, Dr. I. King Jordan (the runner up), and the four student leaders met at a hotel to discuss the student protest. Jordan confirmed he was in full support of Zinser. However, the student leaders tried to convince Zinser to step down and she refused.
- March 10, 1988
- The Students began to protest against the recent selection. They parked cars in front of school gates and deflated the tires so the cars could not be moved. Four demands were made to be met if faculty wanted to go inside the school. Zinser must resign and a deaf president be elected, Spilman resign from the board, the percentage of deaf memebers on the board be 51%, and that there would be no reprisals.

- Elizabeth Zinser is nominated as the 7th president of Gallaudet University. She was elected by the board because of her excellent teacher and school leader, however she did not meet the expectations of the students. The election of a hearing president who did not know sign language angered the students.
- March 11, 1988
- The final day of the Deaf President Now movement. The student's final demand had been met and Jane Spilman had resigned. Bravin was elected new chair of the Board of Trustees. This was also the day that Dr. King Jordan delieverd his famous quote, "Deaf people can do everything that deaf people can - except hear!".

- Elizabteh Zinser resigns and Dr. I. King Jordan is elected 8th president of Gallaudet University. However, only 3 and a half of the students demands were met. The students decided that they were not going to leave for break and stay at school. They were planning a march to the capita building.
