Storyboard Szöveg

  • Suddenly, gunshots are heard from the TV. Hazel looks at the TV to see what happened, only for her to find that it has blacked out. Hazel turned to comment about the blackout to George. But George had gone out into the kitchen for a can of beer.
  • What about?
  • You've been crying.
  • I forgot, something real sad on television.
  • Yup.
  • The point that Kurt Vonnegut is trying to make in his story, "Harrison Bergeron," is that it is important to fight for personal freedom. He demonstrates this with satire by showing an exaggerated future in which no one can be better than anyone else. People are given restrictions to prevent them from improving themselves, and overall lose control over their own bodies. Furthermore, if the people in this fake world attempt to resist, they are punished. In this story, when Harrison Bergeron tried to resist, he was shot. The main point of this dramatic demonstration was to show that if no one stands up for their personal freedom and rights, they will eventually be taken away.
