Storyboard Szöveg

  • " The founders of a new colony... have invariably recognised it among their earliest practical necessities to allot a portion of the virgin soil as a cemetery, and another portion as the site of a prison" The quote shown, gives a view into how corrupt Hawthorne sees the government of this time.
  • "Was that scarlet letter so fantastically embroidered and illuminated upon her bosom" This quote is funny, the women who are expecting her to come out looking rough are surprised when she comes out looking so stunning.
  • "Hester Prynne had been standing on her pedestal, still with a fixed gaze towards the stranger" She notices the stranger, who we soon found is her husband.
  • "Wouldst thou avenge thyself on the innocent baby" When the baby is acting up, the man wanted to give the baby medicine to calm down, Hester seemed worried that the mixture might kill the baby"
  • "Hester Prynne's term of confinement was now at an end" this signifies a change in the story, when it begins to become very interesting.
  • "imp of evil, emblem and product of sin, she had no right among christened infants.” in this the narrator is describing pearl, he talks about how she is not like a normal christian child.
  • "The scarlet letter was represented in exaggerated and gigantic proportions" Pearl realizes how big the scarlet letter is when she looks in the reflection of the armor. She thinks maybe pearl notices how big it is.
  • "Here is a child of three years old, and she cannot tell who made her" The men are asking pearl who made her, and who her father is and she doesn't know
  • "I'm making Dimmesdale sicker"
  • "The motherly care of the good widow assigned to Mr. Dimmesdale a front apartment" This quote is an example of the place that Dimmesdale and Chillingworth now share.
  • "After a brief pause, the physician turned away. But with what a wild look of wonder, joy, and horror." Chillingworth has seen something extraordinary on his patients chest and is astounded.
  • "Spectral thoughts had made so ghastly, glided Hester Prynne, leading along little Pearl... pointing her forefinger, first at the scarlet letter on her bosom, and then at the clergyman's own breast" This is a quote from one of his nightmares. He starts to not be able to control his thoughts.
  • "The settlements or lonely cottages, as they rode with satan through the air" after Dimmesdale screams, the people who hear it just think that it is witches flying through the air.
  • "As a first step, the whole system of society is to be torn down and built up anew" Hawthorne is sneaking his own political opinion into the book with this comment. He is talking about how woman need to be higher in society"
  • "Since that day no man is so near to him as you" this is Hester pleading with Chillingworth to leave Dimmesdale alone.
  • "Pearl took some eel-grass and imitated, as best as she could, on her own bosom the decoration with which she was so familiar on her mothers. A letter-- the letter A" Hester realizes that Pearl definitely notices the A on her chest, and wonders if she knows the meaning of it.
  • "“Mother,” said little Pearl, “the sunshine does not love you. It runs away and hides itself, because it is afraid of something on your bosom. . . . It will not flee from me; for I wear nothing on my bosom yet!” Pearl is talking about the scarlet letter again, later she talks about the " black man"
  • "Hester, I am the most miserable" this is a very subtle quote but it shows how guilty Dimmesdale feels about everything that has happened.
  • "Shame, Despair, Solitude! These had been her teachers, —stern and wild ones, —and they had made her strong" These words, were things Hester had gone through which made her stronger, unlike many other women of this time who had no difficulties like Hester.
  • "Methought... that my own features were partly repeated in her face, and so strikingly that the world might see them!" Dimmesdale is complementing his daughter, he says this which makes him seem even more selfish than he already did.
  • "And the infectious poison of that sin had been thus rapidly diffused throughout his moral system" Dimmesdale is walking and the narrator describes how just one sin made Dimmesdale ill throughout.
  • "She beheld old roger Chillingworth himself, standing in the remotest corner of the market place and smiling on her" He is making this face because she knew they were trying to leave him, but he found a way to follow along with them. As the scene becomes dark i think the song from jaws and Chrissie's "last swim" should be playing, to try and build suspense for what's next.
  • "Mistress Hibbins says my father is the prince of the air" Pearl's father is the devil according to Mistress Hibbins. Pearl goes around saying this. The song from "children of the corn" brings a sense of worry, and spookiness. Which is what is happening in this scene.
  • "ye, that have loved me!-- ye that have deemed me holy!-- behold me there, the one sinner of the world!" Dimmesdale tells the crowd he is the biggest sinner of them all. "Marvins room" by Drake would be a good song for this scene. Because it is a sad situation for all the people who realized their minister had committed the greatest sin.
  • "This unhappy man had made the very principle of his life to consist in the pursuit and systematic exercise of revenge" Chillingworth had made the point of his life to get revenge for his wife committing adultery" "Get right Witcha" by Migos would be a good song for this scene. The song wraps up the album and could wrap up the scene, and the book.
