Storyboard Szöveg

  • This is My family. My Dad is the guy on the left. My Mum is on the right and my older brother is standing next to me. His name is Lewis and he is my biggest hero. I'm the little guy standing in the middle left. This is us beneath the Golden Gate bridge near where we live!
  • I love Basketball, It has always been a source of happiness for me so I try and play as much as possible.
  • My brother loves soccer, He has played it since kindergarten. Soccer has a lot of history in my family. I'm not really sure why I chose to play basketball.
  • This is a photo of our old house. My parents were in this thing called the middle working class. My Dad made really good money but never enough to go on vacation or anything. This was their dream property.
  • We also had this Treehouse in the big tree you can see on the right. Lewis and I used to play super hero's in that treehouse imagining that we were in our base planning a heroic mission.
  • We had this huge red couch in our living room. We all used to sit around it and play board games. Monopoly was the family favorite. Family time is very important and a massive part of life for me. I wished it would have never changed.
  • My room was always messy. It's a bad habit I still haven't fixed to this day, I loved my room though. I had a desk with cool lights and a PC. I played video games a lot to wind down.
  • I have a lot of memories of our old kitchen. We used to make homemade pizza there and it was the main place my family gathered. I remember breaking my arm riding my hoverboard and crashing into the dishwasher.
  • Our Family was always very happy. My Dad taught me my sense of humor and my Mum taught me pretty much everything else. I definitely got manners from my Mum.
  • Are you okay mummy?
  • Harris we need you to come here.
  • What does that mean?
  • One day I came home from school to a sad scene. My parents were sat on the couch with their head's in their hand's. I was too young to understand it yet but that would be the start to the first major change in my life.
  • Can we stop for Jamba Juice mum?
  • Not today Sweetheart
  • I went to my room to start on my Homework but after a hour or so my parents called me into the living room.
  • Are you okay mum?
  • Im okay Harris.
  • My parents sat me and my brother down and explained to us that my Dad didn't have a job anymore and that things were going to start to change. I didn't really understand it at the time but they told me I needed to be a big boy while they had to work.
  • why is everyone sad?
  • Its complicated Harris...
  • I didn't notice much of a change at first but things did start to change slowly as time went on.
  • We need you guys to be big kids for your mother and I
  • Life at home got less and less colorful as finances got lower. I still didn't know what was really going on and It was hard for me to understand the situation.
  • Everyone was being affected by it. I was too young to understand why people can't just be happy. I knew we had less money but I didn't get why we couldn't be happy without it.
  • my parents sat me and my brother again to explain that we still had bills to pay and the bank was trying to take our house away. They told us they were going to spend more and more nights out late working to pay the bills.
  • I used to go DoorDashing with my Mum sometimes. Sometimes after basketball practice, other times before seeing friends. I could see she enjoyed the company but boy did we have some adventures in that car!
  • Throughout all of this, Basketball kept me really sane and happy. It was my chance to escape and just enjoy my time. My brother always used to play me in 21.
  • Can you afford food poory?
  • Eventually the passenger door on my Mums car wouldn't open so she would pick me up around the corner so that nobody saw me climb through the window.
  • The word got around that my Dad lost his job and I started to get bullied at school. I felt helpless because it was something I couldn't even control, It made me become very introverted and quiet with the people around me.
  • Were Going to have to sell the house
  • I started to spend more and more time at home playing video games. What was once just a tool for me to wind down turned into an escape from a harsh reality.
  • My brother had a girlfriend throughout all of this so he was barely home. I don't blame him I would have confined in my friends if I had any. It did make it a lot more lonely for me though. My Brother and I really drifted apart during this period.
  • A few months later, my parents broke the news to us. We were going to have to sell our house before the bank does, I didn't understand it but I saw my life getting darker and darker.
  • I just wanted to wake up from this nightmare. I didn't understand why we were in this situation. I couldn't comprehend what we did to deserve this. Why we deserved to lose out dream home. I felt like I was falling out of the world.
  • I had to throw out alot of my stuff and I became more and more hopeless. I wanted to be old enough to be rich and fix all of this but there was nothing I could do.
  •
  • We took one last glimpse of what was the only home I new.
  • My parents found a smaller rental house in the same school district so I was able to continue my education at the high school I was going to go to. The house was nice but not the home we all had.
  • Nice to meet you guys too
  • Nice to meet you Harris!
  • I met some new people at my new school and we got along well. It was a sign of hope for me. I would find my people. I was still very sad inside but I knew they couldn't see that so I didn't let them.
