Le cadre d'une histoire est le lieu et l'heure, ou le lieu et le moment. Les décors jouent souvent un rôle crucial notamment dans le cas de la fiction historique ou lorsqu'il y a plusieurs lieux comme c'est le cas dans le livre, Sylvia et Aki de Winifred Conkling. Ce storyboard aide les élèves à cartographier où et quand chacune des histoires de Sylvia et Aki se déroule ainsi que les périodes autour des personnages.
