- Let me spin in my computer chair for sometime, after all its my break time. What a crazy game!
- Wow!The wall around me appear to move other way.Is it like the Sun moving from East to West ????

- Good morning children! Today we are going to discuss about the rotation of the Earth
- Now Ida! Can you explain the features of day time and night time ?
- Children ! The Earth orbits around the Sun once every 365 days and rotates about its axis once every 24 hours. Day and night are due to the Earth rotating on its axis and not its orbiting around the Sun.In addition to rotation, day and night occur because the Earth is spherical.So, the side facing the Sun is bathed in light and heat causes day and the side facing away is cooler and darker experiences night.
- It is just like the Earth's rotation on its axis. As the Earth rotates towards the East, it looks like the Sun is moving west. I'm happy that I've explored something great today.
- Yes ma'am, Daytime is the time of the day when the Sun is visible in the sky providing light and heat. Night is when the Sun has gone down, the sky becomes dark and the Moon is visible
- Ma'am but everyday, the Sun rises in the East, rides across the sky and sets in the West. What about the Sun's rotation then ?
- Ida, the Sun doesn't move at all. We are the one's doing all the moving. Yes, the Sun's motion is apparently caused entirely by the movement of the Earth. Our planet spins because of which, the Sun, the Moon and all the stars appear to move from East to West.
- Ohhhh! Now I understand how the walls appear to move the other way when I spin around in my computer chair
