- Lieutenant Kotler asked me to polish the glass as i have small fingers.
- Wow! how did you came to here. Should'nt you beon the other side of fence?
- Bruno found that he was starting to worry about his friend because he seemed to be getting thinner by the day and his face was growing more and more grey.
- But.... I don't think it safe. what if he came back and see this?
- Take it. Its okay. No worries.
- Bruno decided to make a list of his own. A list of all the reason why he do not like Lieutenant Kotler. Once when Bruno was watching the camp from his bedroom window he saw a dog approach the fence and start barking loudly, and when Lieutenant Kotler heard it he marched right over to the dog and shot it.
- WHY ARE YOU GUYS CHATTING! DO YOUR WORK AND YOU STOLE THE FOOD?!

- When Bruno saw what Shmuel is doing in hiss house, he felt very curious and found out that Shmuel is told to come here to polish the glasses as they needed someone with small fingers.
- WHO GAVE YOU THE FOOD!

- Bruno wanted to cut some slices of chicken from the refrigerator to give Shmuel however, Shmuel is worried that Lieutenant Kotler will come back and see him eating instead of doing is work.
- Lieutenant Kotler came back and caught Shmuel and Bruno chatting an got frustrated. When he found out he is slacking off and eating their food, he is super angry.
- Lieutenant furiously questions these two boys and Bruno is thinking whether to betray Shmuel by saying Yes to Shmuel stealing the food but Bruno never seen Shmuel so sad before. And, told Kotler that he do not know who Shmuel is.
