  • June 17, 1789: 3rd Estate votes to declare themselves a National Assembly. From here on the removal of the monarchy will be seen as the 3rd estate become more active in fighting for their freedom, a huge turning point in the Revolution.
  • July 14, 1789: Fall of Bastille. The first chaos driven act of revolt. Peasants stormed the Bastille because they were scared that the military would attack Paris. From here on more chaos would be incited and violence would continue for years to come.
  • September 1791: Legislative Assembly. It was the first big change to the government. For the first time ever the King didn't hold omnipotent power, and France became a limited monarchy.
  • September 1792: National Convention. There was finally no monarchy at all in the country. France became a republic which would lead to chaos around nobility's power since the king now had been stripped of all of his power.
  • January 21/October 16 1793: King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette die. The Jacobins wanted the king and queen dead, so that's what happened. After the king and queen were beheaded, royals were imprisoned, and it was a turning point into careless slaughter.
  • 1795: National Convention - New Plan. Established moderate leaders within a new form of government. Even with some corruption in the new executive body, this was a turning point because there was finally some order afterward instead of tyranny.
