- Dodong's parents gave him their permission to marry Teang. The two got married at their young ages.
- Teang gave birth to Blas and Dodong came in to see her wife and their son. His parents were also there. The hilot handed the child to Dodong.
- Dodong, this is your son.
- You give him to me. You give him to me.
- For six successive years, many more children came. Dodong did not want any children but they came.
- I'm bored
- This is a very huge family.
- Everyone wants something. I am tired.

- Teang became shapeless and thin because of the interminable work to be done.

- Teang wondered what her life would be if she had just married her another suitor, Lucio, instead of Dodong. But she loved Dodong. Dodong whom life had made ugly.
- I wish I didn't get married. Or what if I had just married Lucio instead. I wonder if he would have borne me children.
- One night, Dodong went out of the house, tired and querulous. He questioned his life and looked for an answer but he can't find it. Maybe the question was not to be answered. It must be so to make youth Youth, dreamfully sweet.
- Why did life not fulfill all of youth's dreams? Why it must be so? Why one was forsaken... after love?
