- Echo talks a lot and likes to get the last word.
- "Echo had one problem; she loved talking, and always wanted to have the last word."
- "You tricked me with your words, so I will stop your tongue from ever speaking first. You shall still have the last word, but no power to speak first."
- Echo was distracting Juno from seeing her husband cheating on her so she punished her from talking too much.
- Echo loved Narcissus but he didn't loved her.
- "Hands off! I would rather die than you should have me!"
- Narcissus had no interest in any of the other nymphs either. One day another young nymph tried to show her love for Narcissus. She was rejected and sadly prayed that he would fall in love and not have the love returned.
- Narcissus rejects all nymphs (including the wrong one)- she prays that he will fell heartbreak.
- He fell in love with himself and brought his lips near to take a kiss; he plunged his arms in to hug himself. As he touched the water the image disappeared.
- Narcissus falls in love with himself
- His tears fell into the water and he saw the image leave, and exclaimed, "Stay, I beg you! Let me at least see you, if I may not touch you." He stayed by the side of the water day after day.In its place at the side of the water stood a flower named for him.
- Narcissus is heartbroken because he is rejected (he dies and becomes a flower)
