Storyboard Szöveg

  • An analogy for the cell cycle is an expanding company. First, a company spends lots of time growing and building a name for itself, and then usually starts branching out into more areas. This can be seen in cells in the process called interphase. In interphase, cells grow to a size that they are ready for cell division. The DNA replicates itself which is similar to companies hiring new employees for new departments. Another analogy is the centrosomes being like the CEO's of the company as they organize microtubules.
  • The second phase of the cell cycle is called prophase. In prophase centrosomes, or in the analogy the CEO's, move apart. Both CEO's begin their own branch of the company and assemble their own teams. In prophase, these teams are spindle fibers that connect to the centrosomes on each side. The old structure of the company falls apart, and in cells, the nuclear envelope breaks down.
  • The third stage of the cell cycle is the metaphase. In the metaphase, all of the chromosomes line up in the center of the cell. This is like the employees in the company lining up to get assigned to a specific team. Each employee or chromosome will get assigned to a team or spindle fiber which they attach to.
