- In the 9th century CE the Chinese Monks in their quest to find a life extending elixir. The key ingredients are saltpeter (potassium nitrate), sulfur, and charcoal. When these combine they form an explosion in propellant form. The perfect ratio is 10:15:75. Gun powder is used in explosive devices like fireworks, guns and most propelling weapons.
- In gunpowder there is saltpeter (potassium nitrate), sulfur, and charcoal. These mixtures are perfectly made into gunpowder with a ratio of 10:15:75. These ingredients are put into a weapon or explosive device. When gunpowder is used in fireworks the fire used to light them furthers the explosion making the propel much larger. Without fire these ingredients mixed together will still create a chemical reaction that causes an explosion.
- Gunpowder had a negative effect on our world today because it is now used in guns, bombs and other deadly weapons. It creates an increased warfare throughout the world. When it was originally created it was high in demand around the world and being included in trades. Even though modern technology is becoming more advanced, gun powder is still being used today. Although it is not as common, gun powder (also known as black powder) is used in many explosives which innovated our global warfare by making it more dangerous. .
