- In 1804 Napoleon makes himself Emperor by grabbing the crown out of the Pope's hands and placing it on his own head. He also crowns his own wife (Josephine) Empress of France, by doing this he signified his power over the Catholic Church. After 15 years of being the Emperor of France he was no longer content and wanted to control the rest of Europe.

- Napoleon sell the Louisiana Territory to the U.S. because it the money will finance his operations of conquest in Europe. He punishes the British by giving the balance of power in America to the U.S. instead of the British. Napoleon concord the Netherlands and part of Italy, He was also in the puppet government in Switzerland.

- Britain was fearful of Napoleon's ambitions, so Britain persuaded Russia,Austria and Sweden to join them against France. Napoleon met this resistance with his usual boldness and won in a series of brilliant battles. Eventually Austria,Prussia and Russia all signed peace treaties with France and France's only major enemy left was Britain. Napoleon had built the largest European empire since the Romans.

- Napoleon only lost one major Battle which was at Trafalgar against the British navy, which was called the Battle Of Trafalgar. This naval defeat had two lasting effects, it assured Britain naval supremacy for the next 100 years and Napoleon abandoned his plans of invading Britain.

All main European powers were now at war with France, but Prussian and Russian troops were the ones that attacked the French 's capital. During this time Napoleon's generals refused to fight, so in 1814 Napoleon surrendered and gave up his throne.
