The other wes moore, chapter one

In chapter one of the other Wes Moore i learned that Wes's mom was in very unhealthy abusive relationship. In the first paragraph Wes and Nikki (his sister) were playing around and Wes went up to her Nikki and hit her, when Wes's mom came in the room, she was not happy and she told Wes to "never put his hands on a women". Further in chapter one Mr. Westley (Wes's dad) was taken to the hospital because he fell down the stairs, they thought he was being over dramatic, but the doctors asked "Does he have a habit of exaggerating?". They got relaesed from the hopsital, and got told to get some rest. Later that night Westly was found on the floor in frunt of the stairs. Before they could get help, he died that night. He died from acute epiglottitis. Nikki was very upset and took is death very hard, because he was her real father. When Westly was alive this caused Bill to step up and act like a father but when he died it was as if Nikki lost two really important people.
