Storyboard Szöveg

  • Quote/Explanation-He was shivering and he wanted above all to shove the books through the ventilator again, but he knew he could not face Beatty again., He spoke the words haltingly and with a terrible self-conciousness. He read a dozen pages- (pg. 67-68)

  • This is more prominently a conflict of man vs. society
  • One of the major conflicts that has presented itself so far is the book, is Guy's new sense of curiosity within the society he lives in and his lifestyle, specifically revolving around books. Books in Guy's society are banned and are not meant to be read. He burns them for a living, and at some point starts to wonder why and what they hold within them, Due to this he steals a book from one of the houses he was assigned to, and is then confronted by his boss due to the suspicion of him not wanting to attend work. By this, the chief leaves him with a saying, though Guy is not convinced and takes out the books that he has secretly hidden within his house. Stating that he would like to find out what possession they hold and the impact it could have. Then as soon as Guy starts to read the book, the chief seemingly comes back. This a great danger for his wife and him because it could result in them being killed or harmed.
  • Conflict
  • One example of symbolism within Fahrenheit-451 is the concept of fire, which is a large component within the plot. It is seen through the actions of the firemen and involvement of books but it truly symbolizes destruction and self-awareness. It generally perceives how bad society has gotten and what it has led to. Fire destroys individuals' freedom of thought, while fire also releases individuals from that destruction to better knowledge and self-awareness. Once used for personal benefit. Now used for the source of self benefit and curiosity.
  • Quote/Evidence- We shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out. (pg. 40)
  • Symbolism
  • I personally believe that Guy will restore justice to what has been lost, even in his best attempts to. I believe that he will challenge the society around him and explore more elements that his life has to offer. By this I believe he will investigate more on books, nature, and working on being more social with people. As well as working to learn about the past and it's ways. Though along the way I believe he will interfere with some troubles of the high class and those may not be in favor of his actions and curiosity but as well as a general following/rebellion.
  • Quote/evidence- Where do we begin? He opened the book halfway and peered at it. We begin by beginning, I guess. (pg, 68)
