- Police brutality is excessive use of force by law enforcement in the line of duty. It could violate a person's rights and put their lives at risk. It is an abuse of power by police officers and experienced mostly by minorities.
- An example of police brutality is the murder of George Floyd that occurred in 2020. A police officer put his knee on the neck of George Floyd preventing him from breathing.
- It is our responsibility to protect and serve every citizen. We as law enforcement must hold each other accountable and to a higher standard.
- It can cause a distrust in the community. It harbors fear and discourages cooperating or contacting law enforcement. Accountability must be taken and change implemented to prevent violence.
