- Ginas story is one that all teachers should know. Although everyone though she would never live a fulfilling life, her parents never gave up for her and got her all the help she needed. If her mother had listened to the doctors and "professionals" Gina would have not gotten the help she needed. Even within the school district, her mother received push back when placing Gina in the proper classrooms. Thanks to her mothers perseverance, Gina got the help she needed and is living a fulfilling life and making the lives around her better as well.
- Parent Teacher ConferencesIt is essential for teachers to have routine meetings with the parents. Teachers need to keep parents updated on what is going on within the classroom, as well as better understand what is going on at home. Parent teacher conferences are a great opportunity for the sharing of ideas and the communication between teachers and parents. As a future educator, I will hold parent teacher conferences on a routine bases so that information regarding their children will be shared in a reasonable timeframe.
- Informing Parents about School Functions and Upcoming Board MeetingsParents have the right to have a say in their children's education. Keeping parents up to date with board meetings and school functions allows for them to speak their mind and hear about information pertaining their children. Board meetings are also a great way for parents to see who is representing their children. If there are any questions or concerns parents may have, they can ask them or bring them at at the board meetings.
- Giving out my contact information to the parentsTo help parents share their voice, I will give out my contact information to the parents. The parents will be able to contact whenever they have to asking questions. This open line of communication allows parents to receive clarity when needed.
