Storyboard Szöveg

  • After watching two groups of his men get eaten by a merciless cannibal, Odysseus decides it would be a better idea to injure the Cyclops than to kill him, so the rest of the men can escape. So, he cuts off a bit of wood and starts making a weapon.
  • "Now I chopped out a six foot section of this pole and set it before my men, who scraped it; and when they had it smooth, I hewed again to make a stake with a pointed end." (Homer 1217)
  • After his men cut the wood Odysseus sharpens it into a stake, puts it in the fire to strengthen it and hides it "...well back in the cavern under one of the dung piles in profusion there." (Homer 1217)
  • After two more of his men are eaten, Odysseus starts acting out his plan of blinding the Cyclops so the rest of them can escape safely.
  • "Cyclops, try some wine. Here's some liquor to wash down your scraps of men." (Homer 1218)
  • After the Cyclops drinks three bowls of wine, he asks Odysseus' name and promises him a gift. Odysseus tells him his name is Nohbdy. This way if the Cyclops tries to tell anyone what he did, they will mistake his name for "nobody" and not believe what the Cyclops said. The Cyclops falls asleep while saying how Nohbdy will be his next meal.
  • "Give me another, thank you kindly. Tell me, how are you called? I'll make will please you. Even Cyclopes know the wine-grapes grow out of grassland and loam in heaven's rain, but here's a bit of nectar and ambrosia!" (Homer 1218)
  • As the Cyclops sleeps, the group of Odysseus' men who were chosen to lift the stake heave it into the Cyclop's eye, Odysseus cheers them on and drives it through the Cyclop's socket.
  • The Cyclops claws his face in pain and screams for the other Cyclopes. However, when he tells them "Nohbdy has tricked me..." they believe he's saying nobody has tricked him and leave assuming he is fine. The injury to his son causes Poseidon to become vengeful of Odysseus and sets in motion the main conflict of the books.
  • AAAAAAAH"Nohbdy, Nohbdy's tricked me Nohbdy's ruined me!" (Homer 1219)
