- Rose Howard was always yelled at by her father. Her mother had died a few years back so she was left with her father to watch over her. They had adopted a dog name rain that they found in the rain. Something that was wrong with Rose was that she was a bit different... She was obsessed with Homonyms.

- She would also yell at other students in the class for acting up and not putting things back in their respected places. This was one of the main reasons she was yelled at. She was treated a lot different from the other students. The teacher would pull her into the hall to talk to her a lot, having to email her dad.

- Her uncle soon had to start picking her up because of her father who had to start staying at work longer. He was also busing heading to a bar, giving excuses that he couldn't pick her up so that her uncle had to pick her up. Her uncle was suspicious of Rose seeing as her grades had dropped and she'd been acting off.

- It turns out that a major storm was headed their way. They weren't allowed to go out until the storm had passed. They didn't have much food which was a problem for them. They couldn't feed the dog nor themselves with the little food they had. So they hoped the storm passed quickly.
- But No, The storm lasted three days! It felt like forever. There was a hard rain, thunderstorms, flooding and even earthquakes! The father was frustrated over the fact he wasn't allowed to leave to go to work or the bar. He needed to go and buy goof but they weren't allowed to leave.
