Sup everyone my name is Carter and today we will be talking about German Unification!?
In the 1860s, Otto von Bismarck, then Minister President of Prussia, provoked three short, decisive wars against Denmark, Austria, and France, aligning the smaller German states behind Prussia in its defeat of France.
With all this territory now in Prussian control and its borders secure, Bismarck declared the German Empire in 1871, crowning the King of Prussia, Wilhelm I, as Kaiser of Germany.
The German unification affected the rest of Europe by causing a blow to liberalism, it changed the balance of power forever and created bitter resentment due to the way Germany was united, it brought two more competitive powers to European politics, and France's and Austria's weaknesses were revealed.
Bismarck used both diplomacy and the Prussian military to achieve unification, excluding Austria from a unified Germany. ... With support from Austria, he issued an ultimatum for Christian IX to return Schleswig to its former status. When Denmark refused, Austria and Prussia invaded, sparking the Second Schleswig War.
I surrender,I surrender
With the proclamation of Wilhelm as Kaiser, Prussia assumed the leadership of the new empire. The southern states became officially incorporated into a unified Germany at the Treaty of Versailles of 1871 (signed February 26, 1871; later ratified in the Treaty of Frankfurt of May 10, 1871), which formally ended the war.
