THE SONNET
A sonnet is a 14-line poem written in iambic pentameter and following a specific rhyme scheme. The two most common variations are known as the Petrarchan sonnet and the Shakespearean sonnet.

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
