The british and french fought over different territories they wanted for trading with the Native Americans. To win the war Britain sent well trained soldiers to fight in the war causing the French to surrender. However the costs of fighting the and maintaining the land they won, soon led to Britain taxing the colonists.
Boston Massacre 1770
The Parliament issued the law stating that land near the Ohio River Valley was reserved for the natives and colonists couldn’t settle there since Britain wanted peace with the Natives. The Proclamation angered the colonists since they fought for that land. It was the beginning of the conflicts that led to the American revolution
Boston Tea Party 1773
The stamp act required placed taxes on paper in the colonies. They weren't allowed to make their own paper or buy paper from other sources. They felt this taxing on paper was not fair leading to many conflicts and protests.
Intolerable Acts 1774
British soldiers stood guard at the Custom House, where the British stored tax money. An angry group of colonists started throwing rocks at the soldiers. They all heard a shot causing the soldiers to panic and fire at the colonists leaving 5 dead and 7 injured. This event fueled the anger and tension between the colonists and British leading to the American Revolution
The colonists were even more upset with the British government after they passed the Tea Act putting taxes on their beloved tea. They refused to drink the tea sent by Britain. Britain then made the tea less expensive causing the colonists to feel they were being tempted into paying the hated taxes. When three ships arrived on the Boston Harbor carrying the tea, the colonists refused to let the British unload the tea and later threw the tea crates overboard.
After the Boston Tea Party the Parliament was angered by the colonists acts and then passed “The Intolerable Acts”. It was passed to quell the resistance of the colonies. Instead, it fueled the anger the colonists had towards the British government leading to the American Revolutionary war.
