- The boy about to touch the Radley house is Jem Finch. The girl on the right is Jean Louise (Scout) Finch. The boy on the left is Dill. Dill dared Jem to touch the house so he did. They are in a town called Maycomb in Alabama in the 1930s.
- Climax
- Tom Robinson, a black man in Maycomb was accused of raping a white woman Mayella Ewell. The word of it spread across town and there was going to be a trial for Tom. This conflict angers Bob Ewell, Mayella's father.
- Falling Acton
- Atticus defends Tom in the trial. Tom Robinson was accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Atticus put up a good fight, proved that there was no real evidence tom was guilty and did his best to convince the jury that he should be freed. Atticus made Mr. Ewell look bad in the trial by proving that Tom was innocent. Mr. Ewell knew Tom was not guilty along with everyone else in the courtroom but Tom faced an all-white jury and was found guilty in a small town in Alabama and taken to jail.
- Resolution
- Jem and Scout went to a Halloween pageant. It was already dark outside when they left to go home. They could not see very far in front of them since there were no lights on the road. As they were walking Jem could hear something or someone moving. When they stopped to listen to see if it was really anything it also stopped but it got louder as they continued walking. Someone ran at them and attacked them. Scout heard wrestling and then Jem screamed in pain and his arm made a cracking noise. Jem had broken his arm.
- Tom was shot 17 times while trying to escape from prison. He was tired of relying on white men to try to get justice. He took it into his own hands and tried to climb over the wall. The guards told him to stop but he did not and right before he could get over they shot him.
- While Bob Ewell was trying to murder Jem and Scout to get revenge on Atticus, Boo Radley stabbed Bob Ewell in the ribs, killing him. Justice was found for Mr. Ewell and Jem and Scout were fine other than a broken arm.
