- Wow! I had no idea that the Rough ER is another structure composed of membranes. It is similar to the smooth ER, but unlike it, the rough ER is covered in ribosomes to synthesize proteins. This is why it has a rough appearance.
- Actually, I didn't even know there were two different types of ER. Thank god Mrs. Brown assigned this assessment!
- The central vacuole is a very large vacuole that takes up a large amount of space found only in plant cells. It holds large amounts of water needed by the cell for photosynthesis.

- Wow! Ribosomes are small structures that function in protein synthesis to create proteins for the cell out of amino acids. They are formed in the nucleolus. Ribosomes are mostly attached to the rough ER, but some can be found floating in the cytoplasm. These are called free ribosomes. I can't believe ribosomes are so important.

- 12. The Cell Wall is a rigid structure that helps plants to maintain their shape and structure. The cell wall is not selectively permeable because it has pores that allow materials to move in and out of the cells.
- 13. The Chloroplast is the food producer of the cell. It is found only in plant cells and it provides the necessary substances needed for photosynthesis. It is filled with chlorophyll which is vital for photosynthesis. It has an inner and outer membrane that allows the process to take place.
