- So we have to create a MATH table, and input the given amounts. $18 dollars converted into a percent connecting with the given total(100) is 40%. The original in percentile is 100, but we have to find the original in dollars. So we will use cross multiplication.

- So we multiply 18 by 100 as they are across each other on the table. And then we multiply 40 by x which is unknown. 18 multiplied by 100 is 18,000 and 40 by x is 40x. We then divide by 40 to isolate the variable and we get x = 45. Which indicates that 45 was the original price!
