‘Dead in a ditch, with twenty trenched gashes on his head’
The Ghost of Banquo Enters
'Here's an empty seat, sir.'
'Which one of you did this?'
Lords, nobles and Macbeth's closest friends gather in his castle for a grand feast he is holding in honour of him becoming king.
The Ghost Exits
One of the murderers that was sent to kill Banquo and Fleance returns with blood on his face.
Banquo's Ghost reappears
'A toast to our dear friend Banquo'
As everyone in the hall begins to eat, the ghost of Banquo enters. At first Macbeth doesn't see him but when one of the Lords asks Macbeth to tale a seat, he finally notices the ghostly figure. Macbeth is stunned and visibly shaken but brushes it off to the few that saw his reaction.
The Guests Leave
'You lack the season of all nature, sleep.'
Macbeth is confused as no one else in the hall could see the ghost.
This is the air-drawn dagger which you said Led you to Duncan.
Macbeth attempts to carry on the feast but banquo's ghost keeps reappearing.
After his second outburst, Lady Macbeth asks all of the guests to leave.
