- This is Charlie Gordon.He is 32 years old and has an IQ of 68.He enjoys working at Donner's Bakery.He will soon undergo a procedure to increase his intelligence,therefore changing his life.In the meantime,Charlie has been asked to keep a journal monitoring his daily thoughts.
- "I hope they use me...mabey they can make me smart.I want to be smart."

- Charlie Does not understand why His Co-workers use the phrase "pulled a Charlie Gordon."Especially since Charlie has never lost one of his deliveries,unlike the new guy.He laughs along with them though because they're his friends.
- HE REALLY PULLED A CHARLIE GORDON!!! HAHA!
- Charlie was not worried about the consequences.All he wanted was to be smart in order to impress his friends at the bakery and to make Ms.Kinnian happy.Little did he know however,his intelligence increase would be gradual and take time and hardwork.
- I know, I just want to be smart!
- Charlie, you do realize this surgery may fail and you may not see a difference, or worse a decrease?
