- Biogeography and Fossil Records are two different ways that define and explain evolution.Biogeography is the study of geographic distribution of plants and animals in geographic space through geological time.Fossil records are the remain or imprints of organisms from earlier geological periods.

- Fossils are one of the simplest organisms that are found in different types of rocks by archaeologists. This accurately supports Darwins theory of evolution, which states Simple life forms gradually evolve into more complex versions.An example of this is shown in the modern day horse, which at the time was called Hyracotherium. Hyracotherium had 4 fingers about 55 million years ago, but you can see a evolved version of it called Miohippus which only had 3 fingers. The now aday horse has only one foot which is actuallycalled a hoof
- Biogeography
- Biogeography is a global distribution of organisms and the unique features of island species reflect evolution and geological change.This also relates to fossil records with fossils mainly being found in areas of global distribution.An example of this is the splitting of Pangea (Which was all of Earth's continents were combined together as one)As Pangea broke apart, species got separated by seas and oceans speciation occurred.
- Fossil records Pt 2
- Fossil records are still so important to natural selection and evolution due to the tangible connection to life landscapes and climates of the past. They also show how they responded to and changed over time.
- Biogeography Pt 2
- Biogeography is broken down into three main areas of study: Historical biogeography, ecological biogeography and conversation biogeography. Each area of study looks at both past and present of distribution ofplants. Zoogeography is also the distribution of animals both past and present.
