- Rich vs Poor: Ponyboy is walking down the street then is jumped by the socs, his gang (The greasers) jumps in to save him. we learn in this scene that the socs live on the rich side and that the greasers live on the poor side.
- Rich vs Poor: after Jhonny is beat up by the Socs, the greasers find him in the parking lot. They beat him up because he is a greaser, they could have just kept on driving.
- Rich vs Poor: Ponyboy and Jhonny are jumped by the socs in the blue mustang, they almost drown ponyboy, so Jhonny stabs and kills a soc. The reason they jumped them is that the greasers were talking to the socs girls.
- Rich vs Poor: In the rumble between socs and greasers, the greasers win. The rumble was a "skin on skin" where you can't use any weapons. When the greasers win the socs flee to their expensive cars while the greasers celebrate.
- Rich vs poor: Ponyboy walks everywhere because their family has no car because they are poor. but the socs drive almost every because they are spoiled and rich.
- Rich vs Poor: Dally and Sodapop both work hard, so that they can stay together and give ponyboy a good education. The socs don't work and are given a good education because of their parent's wealth..
