  • 1.4.109. Romeo is afraid that if he goes to the party then there will be a consequence. He believes that the events will end in his death.

  • The opening of the play explains how Romeo and Juliet will die and that this sad ending was their fate, which relates to the motif. "Star-cross'd means to be thwarted by bad luck. They are fated to be together in life or death. Shakespeare is saying how their love was always blocked by outside forces.
  • Romeo gets this feeling that his fate is that he will die . Shakespeare uses this motif to show the theme that some things are just destined to happen. It is important to listen to your gut but only when it is reasonable.
  • Shakespeare is demonstrating that some things are out of ones control by showing how Romeo can not decide to stay. It is the Princes decision and there is nothing he can do about it. Romeos fate is that he is being banished right away.
