- Guerrero decree is when Mexico abolished slavery.The decree alarmed Anglo-American slave owners in Texas. People in Texas asked Mexico to allow them to keep slaves and they gave up on their attempt to outlaw slavery in Texas.

- Law of April 6th 1830
- The law of April 6th was designed to stop settlers to immigrate from the US. This also allowed to stop slaves to come to Texas. This made the Texians really mad. They demanded to lift the rule up, orelse they will leave.

- Battle of Velasco
- The Battle of Velasco was the first real fighting between Mexico and settlers in Texas. It occurred on June 26th 1832.Two Texans left Anahuac heading to Brazoria to bring a cannon back to the battle. When they were returning Mexican Soldiers tried to stop them at Fort Velasco as the Texans were sailing a ship along the river. The texians lost because, they were out numbered by Santa Anna.

- The issue arose when William Travis and Patrick Jack were arrested by Bradburn. Settlers organized a rescue force of about 200 men who reached Turtle Bayou, six miles north of Anahuac, on June 9th 1832. Along their way the colonists captured Bradburns entire cavalry force of 19 men and held them hostage. The colonists were planning on exchanging the captured men for Travis and Jack.
