  • The Cook's Tale is an incomplete story in the Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. The story was published in 1387-1400 and it has 58 lines. It is the 4th story.
  • Climax
  • This character named Perkin loves to gamble, drink, and sometimes steals money. He was as full of love as he was of sin. Because he is so sinful, his Master dismissed him from his cooking job. 
  • Falling Action 
  •  Perkin was not bothered by getting fired because now he can do whatever he wants. He moved in with his friend who enjoyed gambling and partying as much as he did. His friends wife had a shop and was a prostitute. 
  • Resolution 
  • The wife of Perkins friend ends up getting very annoyed with the two boys because they did nothing but gamble and drink. Perkins friend was losing all of his money and went broke which made the couple separate. The boys needed to figure out life on their own from here. 
  • Perkin and his friend were kicked out of the house and had to sleep on the streets for a couple weeks until they found a cheap apartment. They both realized they need to get themselves together and start a better life. The two of them went out and looked for jobs.
  • The boys never thought they could fix their life because of all the money they lost. But, they found an apartment and Perkin found a cooking job at a little restaurant and his friend worked at a grocery store. The boys combined their money and saved up for necessary things instead of gambling.
