  • Around 700 B.C.E., a Latin tribe built the village that then became Rome. They constructed their village on the Palatine which is a hill in central Italy that overlooks the Tiber River that is about a dozen miles inland from the sea. The village of huts developed into a strong city that spread over seven hills.
  • The Etruscan Influence of Sports on The Romans
  • This is The Myth of Romulus and Remus. In this myth, the uncle of Romulus and Remus didn't want them to take the power so he put them in a river hoping for them to die. Thankfully, the twins survived and got saved and raised by wolves. When they grew up, the constructed a city of their own called Rome. Romulus killed his brother and became the King of his city.

  • The Etruscan influence of engineering on The Romans is the arch and cuniculus. Etruscan arches rested on two pillars, which supported a half circle of wedge shaped stones. A cuniculus was a long underground trench connected by vertical shafts to the ground above. The Romans adapted both of these structures and, in time, became even better engineers than the Etruscans. They used arches to build big public works, including bridges, stadiums, and aqueducts to carry water over long distances.

  • The Romans adapted a bloody Etruscan sporting event. This was chariot racing which was when the chariot drivers were strapped to their chariots and raced against others. If a chariot crashed an got turned over, they could be dragged under the chariot's wheels or trampled by the horses. These scary competitions often ended in injury or death.
  • The Greek influence of architecture on the Roman Civilization is Greek columns and concrete. The Romans used Greek columns to build there temples. They also used concrete to build their columns and temples.

The Romans saw the Greeks Gods and Goddesses, liked them, and changed their names.
