Storyboard Szöveg

  • General Braddock, hoping to lead his British soldiers and Virginia militiamen to victory at Fort Duquesne, was ambushed by the French garrison and their Native allies unexpectedly along a narrow roadway. The British suffered large casualties, including Braddock. This event shattered the belief that the British army was invincible, which emboldened Revolutionary colonists later on.
  • DO NOT GIVE IN TO COWARDICE YOUNG MAN! BE GALLANT AND FIGHT!
  • Algonquin land
  • Most Native American tribes supported the French. Not only did they have links in the fur trade, but the French allowed integration of Native American culture into their lives. Other tribes remained neutral, fought with the British, or changed alliances as the war changed direction. The Iroquois Confederacy allied with the British (after staying neutral for some time), and their rivals, the Algonquin tribe, allied with the French.

  • When William Pitt was appointed the new British prime minister, tides turned for Britain. He concentrated the British military strategy on taking control of Canada. This was accomplished through obtaining Louisbourg (1758), Quebec (1759), and Montreal (1760), and eventually the signing of the Peace of Paris (1763). Britain got both French Canada and Spanish Florida. France gave up Louisiana and land west of the Mississippi to Spain as compensation for Florida.
  • WHAT A VICTORY! Great Britain has extended its control in North America, and at last! France has relinquished its influence in the continent! Hooray Britain!
