- The King of Thebes, Laius, and his wife Queen Jocasta had very recently a baby they name Oedipus. They were not happy with him due to hearing a prophecy that say this child will murder his father and marry his own mother. They didn't want to do it to their own child so they sent their servant-shepherds to do it.
- There is this prophecy about you. You will kill your father and marry your mother.
- The servant-shepherd hung baby hung the baby as Laius ordered, The pierces on the baby's feet turned into gruesome wounds, And they started to swell. The servant's heart had mercy and decided to not let him stay there. He gave Oedipus to a Corinthians man who is a shepherd like himself.
- The Corinthian shepherd took Oedipus to Corinth and gave the baby to his king Polybus and his wife, Queen Merope. Since they didn't have a single heir to their throne they adopted him.

- On his way to Thebes, he came across a Sphinx who asks a riddle to people and let them pass only if they get it correct, The ones who gave the wrong answer would be destroyed by this monster. Until Oedipus, No one got the right answer. When he answered right the Sphinx killed itself out of it's pride.
