- While Russian culture has evolved over the years, it’s Sports, government, and customs and traditions. These aspects of cultural identity create worldviews that are more traditional, competitive and strategic.
- “Chess is a game which teaches you the lessons of life and all that is needed to make it through life. Because of this Russian kids are forced to play at a young age by their school and by their parents."
- Competitive and strategic Russian worldviews are heavily influenced by the game of chess. Russians believe that Chess is a game that teaches them accountability and to think ahead and be smart. That is why Russian’s take pride in their chess skills.
- “The 17th century began with a period of political chaos. The ruling Muscovite dynasty came to an end in 1598. Before Michael Romanov was at last proclaimed tsar in 1613, Russia was convulsed by struggles for power, peasant rebellions, and foreign invasions.”
- Russians and their culture has been influenced by their government from the beginning of history. Because of this power struggle Russian citizens have always for the most part lived in poverty with very little control over their countries politics.
- “Because of Russia’s harsh cold climate the sports that they are known for are Hockey, Ice Skating and skiing.”
- This aspect of identity affects the culture of Russia because sports are very big in Russia and Russians take pride in being good at them. Because of this, sports affect the competitive aspect of Russians' worldviews.
