Storyboard Szöveg

  • The chapter begins with the morning after Jack's party. Piggy, even with his shattered glasses, notices Ralph coming towards him.
  • Piggy informs Ralph that everyone but Sam, Eric, a few littluns, and themselves, are the only boys who haven't joined Jack's tribe.
  • Oh—Samneric. They’re collecting wood.
  • There’s some littluns.
  • They don’tcount. No biguns?
  • Piggy? Are you the only one left?
  • Ralph tries bringing up Simon and how what they did "was murder." Piggy tries every excuse he can to convince Ralph - but mostly himself- that they are not to blame and are not becoming savages. Ralph acknowledges that he wasn't scared- and didn't know what he was feeling.
  • We was scared!
  • I wasn’t scared, I was—I don’t know what I was.
  • Piggy keeps trying to convince himself that it was not their fault, but Ralph insists that they are guilty. He says "I’m frightened. Of us." He cradlesthe conch. Ralph tells Piggy not to "let on we was in that dance. Not to Samneric". Soon, while Ralph and Piggy continue talking, Sam and Eric appear and call out to them.
  • Hi! You two!
  • All four boys deny being at the dance, since they're ashamed of what they had done. However, it becomes obvious that they were there. Even so, they still don't want to admit it.
  • We left early.
  • So was it a good . . .dance?
  • Meanwhile, Roger approaches the neck of land that connected Castle Rock to the mainland, when one of the savaged stops him. He wasn't surprised.
  • Halt! Who goes there?
