Storyboard Szöveg

  • What is the importance of an effective learning environment? Traditional behavioural theories do mention the learning environment but the set-up and presentation of information are only some of the factors that impact student's knowledge retention (Schunk, 2020).
  • Class Motto - Be safe. - Be respectful. - Be smart.
  • Learning the LandLesson 2
  • Class Motto- Be safe.- Be respectful.- Be smart.
  • My students seem to be struggling with the lessons, even with repetition of material they seem to not fully grasp the importance of knowing the land.
  • Learning the LandLesson 2
  • Class Motto- Be safe. - Be respectful. - Be smart.
  • My student's appear disinterested and disconnected from the lessons regardless of the presentation, amount repetition and positive reinforcement I use (Schunk, 2020)
  • Perhaps the repetition is not enough to connect students with the lesson materials. Learners process knowledge in different ways and environment plays a strong role in how students will organize the date and retain knowledge (Schunk, 2020). Your students would benefit from entering an environment that will connect them with the land opposed to lessons that tell them what that connection should feel like (Schunk). My Band Elder regularly takes students out to scared lands to encourage curiosity and knowledge building perhaps this would be valuable for your students.
  • Learning the LandLesson 2
  • I wonder how old the trees are and how many people have also passed by them?
  • My students appear to be very engaged.
  • What is my connection to this land?
  • I hope we can build something
  • Many important lessons can be learned from the land itself. From the medicinal plants to the creation stories of our plight. We take care of the land for the land takes care of us (College of Alberta School Superintendent, 2020). Understanding this reciprocal connection is very important and is knowledge that is shared to each generation (Mackie, MacLennan, Shipway, 2017).
  • MetaReality is an approach to spirituality that encourages reflection on the deeper reality in which we understand and accept that we are all connected. Freedom is linked to the understanding freedom for one is to create freedom for all is required (Mackie, MacLennan, Shipway, 2017).
  • By learning the land we learn to survive and thrive in the environment!
  • Learning the LandWhat does connection to the land mean to you?
  • We are all connected
  • History can be taught in song and dance!
  • Alberta Regional Consortia, 2019
  • As teachers we also react to students knowledge intake in a systemically oppressive manner that may not always have the interest of the students as priority (Mackie, MacLennan, Shipway, 2017). As the teacher I understand that I also play a role in the continuance of oppressive practice while also being subjected to it but by remaining aware, I can set up my students learning environment to fit the specific situations (Schunk, 2020). By focusing on students, holistically, who have emotions, various abilities, and beliefs and not empty vessels waiting for knowledge I can allow them the opportunity to organize knowledge in away that makes sense to them (Schunk).
