- Macbeth fears that nobody will come after him except his beloved friend Banquo so he assigns two murderers to kill him. Macbeth reminds them that Banquo is the man who made their lives hell and asks if they're going to let him get away with it. The murderers agree to kill Banquo for Macbeth and Macbeth tells them that it is vital for Fleance to die too.
- Lady Macbeth enters and tells Macbeth to stop worrying over the events that unfolded. Macbeth tells her that he cannot rest because even though King Duncan was killed, there are still threats to the throne. Macbeth tells his wife that he has a plan to get rid of Banquo and Fleance and Lady Macbeth asks what he is going to do. Macbeth tells her that it's better than she doesn't know until after the plan has been executed but tells her to be kind to Banquo to make sure that he feels secure.
- Banquo and Fleance return from their ride and ask for some light. The murderers attack and Banquo tells Fleance to flee and one day get revenge for him. After the act has been committed they notice that there is only one dead body and have failed on half their mission. They decide to head out and tell Macbeth what they accomplished.
