- Lady Macduff tells her son that he father is now dead, since he decided to leave them, questioning how they are going to leave. Her son suggest that they will live by getting what they can get.

- He is a traitor, Traitors lies and swear and should be hanged
- Lady Macduff's son tells her that despite of her claims his father is still alive no matter if he left or not. They exchange some remarks which question if the father is a traitor in which his mother confirms. While trying to explain what is a traitor.

- The son wonders on how if all men are hanged there wouldn't be enough. This make Lady Macduff realize how innocent he is about the world. Letting him now it is all child talk.
