- The villagers of a small gathered in the town square to celebrate the annual lottery. Mr. Summers arrived, placed the traditional black box in a stool and stirred the papers inside the box.
- Climax
- Mr. Summers the leader of the lottery arrives to the town square, and everyone settles around him. He puts the black lottery box in a stool and stirred the papers inside and started the lottery.
- Falling Action
- Mr.Hutchinson pulled out of the box the slip of paper with the black dot. Now, each of the member of the Hutchinson have to do another small lottery.
- Resolution
- Mr. Summers puts 5 slips of paper in the box including the one with the black dot and stirred them. Each of the Hutchinson family members pick one, while the rest of the villagers awaits exited and anxioustly.
- When the Hutchinson’s open up the papers they realized that Mrs. Hutchinson has the paper with the black dot. Mrs. Hutchinson starts yelling “It’s not fair, It’s not fair” and Old Man Warner said “Come on everyone”. The villagers take the stones the had gathered and approachedher.
- The villagers start throwing rocks at her as Old Man Warner urges them. As Mrs. Hutchinson yells “It isn’t right , it isn’t fair " a rock hots her in the head, and the villagers where upon her.
