The rainbow serpent crossed all of Australia, it was flat with and very dry.
The Serpent grew tired and laid to rest after a long day of search for his tribe.
As he awoke from his slumber to search again his large slithery body cut into the land, as he lay there he called new life out to help him..
"Frogs!" Frogs came to life and squirted water into the gouges , forming rivers we see today.
Now that there was water to drink and grass to eat, the Rainbow serpent woke the animals so they could fly high in the sky and walk on the ground.
They were happy living their free lives. Some living in the skies, the sea, diigging burrows and gsthering food and water.
The Serpent created rules for the animals to follow. If they obeyed these rules they were rewarded by turniing into humans.
But if they disobeyed these rules... they were punished by the serpent, turning them into rocks which formed mountains.
One day while it was raining the rainbow lorikeet's needed to take shelter from the rain that was flooding the land. So the brothers asked for shelter from the serpent.
One day as the Serpent grew hungry, it began to rain and two lorikeet brothers were seeking shelter. So they asked for shelter from the Serpent.
"Take shelter in my mouth" said the serpent, which lorikeet brothers agreed to, but as they entered the Serpents mouth he quickly closed his mouth shut and swallowed the lorikeets whole.
As others began to search for them, they found the tracks left by the brothers and began chasing after the serpent.
Rainbow Serpent grew tired of this and out of guilt, decided to hide in the sky arching his big body to show off his beautiful colours so the people would see this and feel happy again.
