- I am Iris and I am the Greek Goddess of the rainbow. My name has a double meaning which is Iris "The Rainbow" and eiris "Messenger".
- I am the daughter of Thaumas "The wondrous", who was a marin-God, and Elektra "The Amber" a cloud-nymph. My sisters are Harpies Ocypete and Aello which are fearsome creatures that are half women, half bird.
- During the Titanomachy, Iris became the messenger for the olympians and her sister Arke, delivered messages for the Titans, becoming rivals with her sister
- Iris was linked to the sea and sky much like a rainbow, and serves as a link between the gods and humanity
- In myth, she often travels to the ends of the world using the speed of the wind on her wings, and even travel to the depths of the sea and through the underworld, frequently taking the trips to deliver important messages.
- In antiquity, it was believed that when someone saw a rainbow, they witnessed Iris traveling around the world or across oceans to deliver divine messages to a mortal. Therefore, the goddess of the rainbow is described and depicted as a rainbow or a stunningly beautiful winged woman, often carrying a winged staff.
