The story takes place in Mrs. Mallard's home. The characters are Mrs. Mallard, her sister Josephine, her husband's friend Richard, and her dead Husband.
Crisis & Climax
Josephine and Richard went off to Mrs. Mallard's home to break the news of her Husband's death. In utter shock, Mrs. Mallard headed off to her room to spend time for her own.
Falling Action
Man VS Self. Mrs. Mallard starts to grieve her husband's death, and cries over the loss. She lost the man she loved, but not the man she truly desired.
Theme
The great joy Mrs. Mallard felt when she realized what great things she can do without her husband. She said over and over under her breath, "free, free, free!" She could finally begin to live for herself
As Mrs. Mallard left her room and brought her sister along with her downstairs, she was fulfilled with excitement. Suddenly, her husband appears at the front door. She died of a heart disease of joy that kills.
A dove to symbolize "Freedom". Mrs. Mallard felt free of her husband's death and even said under her breath, "free, free, free!"
