- I really do like soft things!
- My hair is very soft if you wanted to feel.
- STOP YELLING YOUR GON' GET ME IN TROUBLE
- Lennie and Curley's wife are in the barn alone talking while the other men are outside playing horseshoes. Curley's wife is in the process of trying to befriend Lennie. Lennie is going on about how he likes soft things and about how he's gonna tend to the rabbits when George and he get their dream farm.
- I'd done a bad thing,
- Curley's wife starts talking about how her hair is very soft and asks if Lennie wants to feel it so he starts running his hands through it. He enjoys feeling her hair very much.
- Lennie starts to aggressively rub her hair to the point where it becomes painful. She starts yelling at him to stop and Lennie grabs her and tries to get her to calm down and be quiet. In the process, he ends up breaking her neck and killing her.
- IMA KILL HIM!
- Lennie realizes what he has done and is now panicking out completely. He decides to run off into the woods to get away so that George doesn't yell at him.
- Candy and George end up finding her corpse and deducted that Lennie was most likely the culprit. George tells Candy to get the others while he walks away so it doesn't look like he has any association while also sneaking into the bunkhouse to get Carlson gun.
- Curley and all the others find her body and Curley goes ballistic. He rowdys up all the other ranch workers to basically go on a giant witch hunt for Lennie. George and Slim try to find some way to calm Curley down but are unable.
